If you look at the April(fools) issue of Game Informer they've introduced a new fictional "hyper-doofus" editor character for their semi-famous Game Infarcer spoof.

The new king dork is called "Darth Clark" and umm..I'm pretty sure that the whole thing a huge shot at James Mielke and it certainly references elements of his recent "ancient Ziff/EGM/1up history" blogs.

Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh at the guy, or cry for him, or just accept that he has a massive personality disability that should exculpate him from most of the usual natural consequences of his excesses. Maybe the guy just can't help it.

He sure can be a touchy, hypocritical, egocentric, grandiose, self entitled, narcissistic, hipster prick sometimes. He is also a bit too much of a name dropper and fish tale teller for me to take very seriously.

On the other hand he's not exactly Satan and perhaps my recently acquired contempt/distaste for him is a bit overblown given that I don't know him or (probably) understand him fully. Maybe he just rubs me the wrong way (almost every single time he blogs).

:)

I guess I'll calm down now, and remind myself that it's just the internet (chewing away on the root of Yggdrasil somewhere down in the cthonic gloom and icy mists of the underworld).

Nice one Greg, I haven't read anything from you since your departure from EGM. I remember almost shedding a tear reading your good-bye letter in the reviews section lol. At the time after I read your goodbye note I just asked myself "Why the fuck ain't this in the editorial section?". But now I know why Greg, its because you're better than them.

Nice blog Greg! You were always one of my favorite EGMers despite your Chrono Cross score that I often like to joke about. I always respected the work you guys did, and you also seemed like fun people who loved video games. To me, you guys were living the dream (even though you guys obviously went through plenty of hardships). Milkman made some great issues towards the end, but I have a feeling if I met him, I'd think he's an arrogant asshole. I always got that vibe from him when I read his reviews in the past too. One time, I made a comment on FFXI is his news post, and he flipped out and started swearing at me, and after a little discussion, he managed to tone it down and we actually had a decent conversation. I know some people like him: I don't think they're bad at heart, but they are a bit too into themselves at times and need to give other people some credit (see certain game developers and CEOs). Y'all did an amazing job at EGM, and I'll never forget it, regardless of whether I get a job in game journalism or not. You guys are what I aspired to be, even though I could have been a wealthy businessman.

I'll never be his co-worker, so I can only say as a consumer of his products that I was greatly impressed (as where you) by the magazine under his mini-tenure.

You could really tell Milky was stroking his ego. It was painfully obvious. That being said he has done some great work. Great article.

True story - in early 2000; Milky considered leaving his throne at Ziff to run IGN's PS2 channel. IIRC his "interview" there mainly consisted of him showing off his mad Starcraft skillz.

Very fair analysis. You're quite the logic wrangler, Greg. Also, It's good to have you back on the show. POP is in good hands with the foil that is you.

Thanks for adding your two cents, Greg. It's nice to hear the other side in all this. :)

It's really interesting to hear that side of the story. I'm a big fan of Mielke's work and actually do see him in a pretty "cool" light - I mean, after that proposal story it would be hard not to. It's good to get the other side though, and remember that some times those kind of people inflate themselves a bit.
