Just to chime in on the summer of arcade discussion, and Greg Sewart can relate to this. I think the XBL points system at least in Canada (and probably everyone outside of the US) is absolutely ridiculous. Not only do we have to spend more money per point than the US (on XBL 1000 points = $12.50 US but $14.50 CDN. Even though on PSN, a $10 US game is $10 CDN), our points are still in increments of 500 while games are in increments of 800.
So I just bought the new Lara Croft game for me and my girlfriend to play through. I had 140 points already in my account. So I was forced to buy 1000 points ($14.50 CDN) + 500 points ($7.25 CDN), equalling out too a $21.75 CDN charge. $21.75 for what would be a simple $15 CDN charge if it were on PSN.
I’m wondering if you guys can bring this up again on next week’s podcast. It’s just completely absurd and turns me off from buying anything on XBL. In the long run I can’t possibly see how this works in their favour.
And to top it all off, my girlfriend doesn’t like the game.
