IMO there was a craft to making those visuals look good. I don't think that Steam game got that part right.

I hear it's got motion controls. So I canceled my preorder. DO NOT WANT.

But I believe a save from the demo carries over! It is literally just the beginning of the game.

Just wait. I feel like it's coming. I have seen a few people on GAF praise the controls. I'd praise Splatoon's controls/motion controls, but I dunno that I would say the game without that stuff would be "bad."
But I also don't see many people saying any 3DS game is better because of 3D or the second screen. Yet these things still exist. This generation it was either complaining that nothing used the GamePad or complaining when something did use it.

If you buy SF Zero digitally then Guard is only $10. I bought both. Worth noting that outside the first game, I'm generally not that big a Star Fox fan. I loved the first game, thought 64 was too short (finished that), and then didn't play any of the side games except Star Fox Adventures which I really disliked.
I played a little bit of it so far (training and the first stage) and didn't have much difficulty with the control. The way I look at it is - GamePad is the turret/cockpit view, TV gives a wider-angle or overall view that's especially useful in all-range mode so that you can see what's around you or where your main target is in relation to your ship. THAT is very useful in all-range mode. Quick glance up at the TV, back down to the cockpit view for steering and shooting - it has worked out pretty well for me so far. I like the motion controls (well, GYRO controls) and the way everything is set up seems to make sense to me. It is a bit like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at first, but it doesn't seem to me that it should take that long to "click."
Granted, the training and first level areas are probably not the best representations of everything but I imagine that's what most people experienced at E3 or shows and was why people bitched so hard about the controls in the first place. I use Splatoon's gyro controls with no problem, so these are pretty much just like that and I'm into it.
Not my video, but I think this demonstrates the benefit of the chase cam and cockpit pretty well. That fine reticule control with the gyro is great!
