Is there any Steam Friends functionality with World of Goo?

Regardless, my Steam name is Vaxadrin and I intend to buy Left 4 Dead on Steam this fall. :D

Nothing in terms of multiplayer or leaderboards. However, as with any Steam game, you have the in-game Steam Community.

Also, the game has Steam achievements. Though...good luck getting more than 1-2. Most of the achievements are related to getting OCD on all the levels in a chapter, which is quite difficulty. OCD is basically a goal set for the level (x amount of goo balls rescued, x amount of moves, or x amount of time).

Well, I picked up a Radeon HD 2400 PRO for super cheap until I can get a powersupply plus a card and ram. I did this because once I am done with this I can pass it on to my girlfriends PC because she needs one. Everything has been good with it though, it runs TF2 at 60 fps with mostly everything at high/very high so it has been treating me well.

Seriously man, my very first game I played in TF2 was epic. I was on gold rush and when we got to the last push I was on heavy and 3 medics led me on an epic ubercharge push of destruction to the finish while I was mowing down people left and right. That right there immediately validated my purchase.

A tip for TF2, and generally any PC online shooter: find a server you like, and stick with it. It's one of the reason I love dedicated servers so much more than console matchmaking. After a while, you'll be part of the community of regulars on that server, and you'll probably have a lot more fun that way.

Will TF2 run on my laptop? AMD Turion64 DualCore, 2GB ram, Nvidia Geforce 7000m.

I really want to rebuy all my Source games on Steam but I'm not sure if the physics will make it cry.

Yeah. I don't think you'd have any problems running any Source game on that. Half-Life 2 runs at pretty solid 60 frames on my old 2GHz, 1GB RAM XP box. My graphics card is an old Radeon X800, so no DX10, obviously.

Really sorry to say this Vax, but no they won't run well. The rest of the PC is fine, but the videocard is severely underpowered (it's not meant for gaming).

http://www.notebookc...List.844.0.html

My laptop card, which is a 7600 Go, runs TF2 at maybe 20-30fps, maxed out (no AA). It scores 7800 on 3DMark03. The 7000m on the other hand, scores 1380. To get playable performance, you'd need to force DX7/8 and have the lowest settings possible.

In comparison, the $120 8800GT/9800GT for desktops today scores around 38000 in 3DMark03.

Maybe, but he'd need to force DirectX 7/8, so the games would look considerably worse than the console versions. Though, at least the games are still there for you when you go to upgrade your PC. Vax, you could always pick up the OB or just TF2 if you see it on sale at some point, be it in stores or over Steam (the store copy activates a Steam version).

Well I already have a million games so I'll keep em on my to-do list for when I upgrade.

I should mention that I am one of those people that runs PC multiplayer games at the lowest graphical settings possible for best framerate. When I play Quake 3 is the battle of triangles in the big grey square.

Oh not to worry. Plop $800 down for a decent rig, and you'll be running all those games at higher than console resolutions at 60fps. :D

In that case, you'd definitely want to play it on a dedicated gaming machine then. In the mean time, we can play Habbo Hotel together. Do you want to Habbo with me?

When you do get a PC, if you like adventure (mainly narrative) games, then pick up Dreamfall. One of my favorite games of the past several years. It's on XBOX as well, though I'm not 100% sure if it works on the 360 or not.

My Intel GMA can run Source games on low, and since I updated the drivers it runs fine in DX9. The Nvidia integrated chipsets are a lot better than the Intel ones, right?

Should be a bit better for sure.

Well Vax, you could always try the HL2 demo and see how it runs. It'll run a bit faster than TF2 for sure, but it'll be a decent indicator.

Do you guys have a particular night of the week that you play? I bought Orange Box for PC when it came out, but may have spent a combined hour over the past year on TF2. Just never got into it with all the games that came out last year and from playing COD4 on Xbox Live.

I haven't even installed any of the games yet (just using a 3 year old laptop now) but wanted to have games when I get a decent desktop up this year and STEAM seems the way to go, already over 30 games and probably less than $100 spent.
