Videogames have changed. They're no longer about Mario's, Sonic's or Pikachu. It's a series of endless message board battles fought by fanboys and hardcore elitists...

I hope your 360 doesn't kick the bucket again. :)

(though it probably will) :P

I can accept that I'm living on borrowed time. Luckily, my PS3 and Wii are here to keep me company during the dark weeks of replacement. And now the PS3 feels even more like the 360, anyway! Double bonus!

In all seriousness, though, I am pretty impressed that Sony pulled the update at even the idea that there might be an issue. While I won't sit here and make stupid comments like Microsoft/Nintendo would never do that, I will say that it was ballsy considering what a hyped up firmware 2.4 was in the weeks leading up to release.

LOL. I'm enjoying the hell out of this thread. But then, I spent the last two days dealing with people who took the nonsense I said way too seriously.

I say, keep Ty Garriot on his toes!

Nothing has changed. I distinctly remember blood-boiling levels of vitriol in regards to playground discussions of Mario vs Sonic or Genesis vs SNES.

Do you so quickly forgot the "fan art" submitted to all the gaming magazines of Sonic & Mario beating the shit out of each other?

[edit] Actually, probably what happened was the Dreamcast. Now everyone's even more concerned with their console of choice's success as a result.

mik...we're old. Old, wrinkly, and ugly. We look like trolls. If we look like trolls then we must be trolls. If we're trolls, then we probably troll around for a good time like all good trolls do. Get it? It's easy logic, really. ;)

Or maybe it's just that sarcasm and irony is lost on the kids today with their clothes and their hair and their music! :P

So you're playing along with the "Greg was just joking around" team? Go back to page 2 of this thread, and tell me he wasn't being serious. He was, but as soon as I called him out on it, then it was "all just a joke".

And no, I'm not incensed at all. I just think people should stand by their words, and not try back peddling after they spend an hour trolling up a thread and making ridiculous statements.

Riiiiight, that is why you posted "I'm not touching the system warz" stuff on the 2nd page of this thread. But you just knew it was all a joke, right? No, you didn't want to step on anyone's toes, so you just sat quiet while sitting on your hands. It's easier that way.

That is exactly why you're defending Gregg right now. Trust me, I'm not blind to the "home field advantage" that exists on boards like this. Some people are not interested in asking questions of those who run the place. You know who you are.

This is gonna be a real fun forum if we can all just play this "joke card" whenever we feel like it. There isn't a single indication in any of Greg's posts on page 2 that he is joking. Once the rebuttal came though, with the facts to back it up, he was just kidding. How convenient.

Just continue to help him craft his defense guys. I'm sure he appreciates it, and will invite you loyal members over the next time he's having a party at his house.

1.) Take off the serious hat.
2.) Take a chill pill.
3.) Sometimes people are just joking. And even if they aren't so what. On the internet, people who already agreed with them will continue to agree with them and people who didn't will continue to not. People on the internet tend towards the obstinate. And that's their right.
4.) Do you get this worked up when someone says they don't like the detergent you use? Or any other consumer product? Games and consoles are simply consumer products. Don't make them more than they are. They are just toys.

Wenny, I understand your good intentions, but you're trying to turn this into something it's not. I'm not "getting all serious" because I disagree about videogames with someone.

I got upset because someone said some ridiculous things on page 2 of this thread, and NOW wants to act like they didn't really say what they said. That is just stupid, childish behavior, and it's doubly annoying when others try and come to the defense of that person, and act like they "got him" all along. They didn't, and their behavior on that page clearly indicates they didn't think he was kidding.

This isn't really even about videogames at this point. It's about the principle.

P.S. Wenny, in case you're wondering why my post you quoted suddenly increased in size, it "magically" disappeared before you replied, so luckily I still had a copy of it to repost. Remember that when I talk about "childish behavior".

Go read it again. I recognized--and posted--that he was joking before he copped to it. I'm like fucking Madame Cleo.

Go to Segomo on Easy, Normal if you want but it really doesn't matter. Clear as much of the asteroids as possible to get the tokens out, shoot all the ones with the ring around them to get the bonus asteroid to fall, wait for it to get into position so that there are some behind it and get somewhat close to the green bonus rock and boost through it, if you do it right you will collect all or most of the ones inside of it and pick up some extra ones on the other side to make it 15.

Dude, I'm officially done with you. You've gone from being mildly amusing to downright annoying when you not only have to take umbrage with the dude who was obviously (to most people) just trying to have a bit of fun with you, but start calling out those who could actually figure out what was going on as some sort of ass-kissers, afraid to disagree with an almighty moderator.

Sorry I ruined your super-serious discussion about firmware. I'm gonna go play some Sega CD now. You know, there were chips in there designed by Sony, I think. And it's one of my favourite systems. Does that raise my stock a little bit, at least? :)

Oh, and for the record, people can ask or say anything to me on here, publicly. I don't care. Unless you're truly offensive in some way, there won't be any repercussions. I just ask that you don't be a condescending prick when you do it. The only condescending prick around here is me!

No he wasn't. Tiger is taking his console preference WAY to seriously, feeling like he has to defend a multinational, multi-million dollar company on a podcast forum. Everyone else is having fun with that guy's overreactions.

Greg was obviously laughing at the defense of a botched firmware update (which Nintendo and Microsoft have had to deal with, also) from the same poster that said that achievements. the mold which the 2.4 firmware's trophies were created from, are the "most disturbing trend" in games today.

And honestly, ex0du5, you are a hyperbole or two away from him.

[Regarding Achievements...] They're both a blessing and a curse. They'd probably be fine if there was something else implemented in place of Gamerscore. Still, great strategy from MS.

Is that so trollish it makes you cry?

The co-op trophy is in the new expansion that was pulled along with 2.4. To get the late boomer trophy follow the first ship until the next ship comes down, nail both of them so you end up with 13 bombs, from there it should be mostly smooth getting 2 more ships (you don't have to take them out at the same time). It is imperative that you nail 2 with the first bomb though, because if you don't, come time to get the 15th bomb, a bullshit storm of those red triangle things show up making it impossible. You can get the endless achievement, it just takes getting used to because all of the waves are random, just make sure you hit the nukes right when they come down.

That's what I thought until I brought down exodus from his high score reign of terror. ;)

You were inciting the flames though, no offense. If you know he'll get that way, then don't bring it upon yourself, and don't be so surprised it happened.

Tread carefully Exodu5. You don't want the POP defense force on your ass because you dared to state the obvious. They'll have 18 reasons for you why Greg would never, ever incite trouble in a thread.

Greg was obviously laughing at the defense of a botched firmware update (which Nintendo and Microsoft have had to deal with, also) from the same poster that said that achievements. the mold which the 2.4 firmware's trophies were created from, are the "most disturbing trend" in games today.

Do me a favor there genius.

1) Go back to the beginning of this thread, and let me know if Greg's posts came before, or after my "defense of this firmware" began. You don't seem to have your defense of Greg's facts straight just yet.

2) Go back to my "Most disturbing trend in gaming" thread, and take careful note of all the positive things I had to say about achievements. I point blank stated I LIKE ACHIEVEMENTS. Again, get your info straight before replying in a thread like this.

My entire complaint in the "Most disturbing trend" thread, revolved around game journalists who have become obsessed with achievements, and how it impacts what they pay attention to and cover in the gaming universe. I NEVER said I don't like achievements. I only dislike what they have done to some people.

So I guess that takes you back to the drawing board regarding my likes and dislikes in the gaming world. I must be the only "Sony Fanboy" in the world who plays his 360 more than his PS3, and owns a lot more 360 games than he does PS3 games. In other words, I don't fit into that nice little mold you'd love to place me in. I only defend or go after what I see as incorrect, or out of place. Nothing more, nothing less. If someone posted a thread saying the Xbox 360 sucks, I'd be one of the first people replying in that thread to disagree. The truth is, there is just a lot more nonsense spoken about the PS3 these days, so thats were I'm most often disagreeing with someone.

^it's still funny to see them get all up in arms when someone defends Sony. Rather amusing I think.

Tigerriot: "You would be correct. I pirated my first and only videogame earlier this year, and it was Peggle on the PC."

It was as eloquent as your previous reply in this thread. I already explained why.

Hey FUCK you, Greg.

(and I am finished testing the waters)

I have no platinum trophies. Sad day.
