Bad form, mik. You should know to always blame autocorrect.Sorry--I shouldn't type while talking on a conference call.

That seems like a lot of work. Consoles were invented to avoid that extra lifting. Just something to think about.
It's all on my macbook pro. Just one HDMI connection away.
Also, $20

Hooking up my Dualshock 3 to my MacBook Pro and playing my Steam copy of this (where it's bound to look and run way nicer than on consoles even if the game still sucks like it probably will because it's a modern Sonic game) is going to be a lot of work? First I've heard of this.

Everyone I know who has played it has said nothing but positive things. I can't really recall the last time that was true of a Sonic game.
A year ago with Sonic Colors. Keep up, Mik.

That's also how I play The Witcher 2 (though it's on my laptop). I'm thinking of building a dedicated rig to have hooked up to the TV for games, media, etc.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing. The PC versions of games and probably going to look noticeably better than console versions for the next couple years, and my old man hands enjoy having more control options. I'm assuming I can find some kind of contraption to get a wireless mouse and keyboard in a comfortable position in front of the couch. If not, I'll build something, Homer Simpson-style.
I don't know what to think about this Sonic game, though. The buzz is good, but like Dammitmatt, I hated my time with the demo. It was almost nauseating. I wish that were hyperbole.

You must have vacationed in some bizarro dimension in order to even associate "enjoy" with Sonic 4.The demos were pretty horrible. 30 fps just doesn't work for 2D stuff, and the latest demo looked like something from the PS2 days. I didn't even bother to finish the demo. I can't believe the relatively decent buzz this game is getting. I enjoyed Sonic 4 more than this crap.

Sigh....should i Redbox the game for 2 bucks a day or should I buy it using a Best Buy gift card.
Any idea how long the game is?
Redbox it. It's Sonic, no one really beats Sonic games........do they?
@I AM John I think you are being sarcastic but I'm not really sure.

Sonic 4 comment aside, I agree. 30 FPS on a game this fast doesn't work -It was borderline unplayable, IMO.

Why would I be being sarcastic (wait, don't answer that)? Literally, playing it on PC for me comes down to restarting my laptop in Windows and plugging in a controller. If I'm feeling like putting in extra work, then add plugging my laptop into my monitor into the equation, but that's no more time or work intensive than unplugging the HDMI from my PS3 into my 360 or vice versa like I do every time I switch consoles. I just don't understand where the whole "PC gaming is an arduous, difficult process" meme continues to come from when it's simply not true.@I AM John I think you are being sarcastic but I'm not really sure.
Re: the length - one of my good friends picked it up yesterday afternoon and has already beaten the game. There's apparently a lot of collectibles and extra challenges and stuff in typical Sonic fashion, but of you only care about the campaign, it's not going to last you very long.

I blew through the game in five hours tonight, leaving anything resembling optional content for a later time. Honestly, it was just the right length if you ask me. Not that I would have minded more stages from other Sonic games or just a few extra acts from the represented games.
Other than a shit-tacular final boss (with a great little act directly prior to it. Check it out if you're never going to play this game but are at least familiar with Sonic), I really enjoyed it. Don't think it quite blew me away like Colors did, but I really wasn't expecting that to be as good as it was.
Speaking of Colors, Planet Wisp really looks good in this game. A little crowded with hazards, though.

Although I am enjoying the game for the most part, it makes me wanting more of the 2D stuff and less of the 3D stuff. The first three stages representing Sonic 1, 2 and S&K show so much potential 2D sonic still has. It makes me wonder why Sonic Team doesn't just build upon their Sonic Generations framework and remake the Genesis titles.
Sonic 3 and Knuckles with the Sonic Generations engine and visuals would be all I could ever hope for in a future Sonic title.

It's a shame the final boss kinda blew, but I can't believe how much I enjoyed a Sonic game.
