I only played one race in MK7, and I was able to connect the first time with no dropping. Sounds like a Canada problem.Weird that Sewart had online issues with MK7. No issues here and its been great. Im very surprised.
Please Phil say that you got Skyrim on 360 rather than PS3.
And of course we got the 360 version.

Don't give up if you just started! Stick to the main story missions and just keep going. It starts a bit slow and is heavy on the "ho" humor, but there's some good stuff there and some fun crazy combat, too.

I was damned surprised to hear a Tim Minchin reference in the podcast band agree that it's an excellent Christmas song. Not being religious, it reflects some of my views about what Christmas has become and that it's more about spending some quality time with family and enjoying the time you have with them. And for one day a year we try not to annoy and antagonise each other and expend effort to get along and have a lovely day. We always say that "it's for Mum" when in reality I think we quite like each other, deep down at least.
Apart from that I can't believe how quickly this year has evaporated, how many games I've played but how many I've missed. I'm still trying to get through the games that came out during the first half of the year and the last 2 months has dumped 6 or so titles that I'd really like to get to. Most of these I haven't even purchased as I can't justify it, so I've put them on lists for my birthday and Christmas. This not only saves me valuable money but also insures that I don't buy any more games this year.
I was hoping to that the Rayman Origins talk would continue this week, having started the game yesterday. I agree that the game starts off easy but I really don't care. In the old days we would talk about a video game looking like a cartoon but this surpasses any cartoon. It's a shame that not many people seem to be giving it much attention.

Glad to hear CJ getting more into Skyward Sword.
I think people have to realise that this version of Zelda is quite different in design compared to previous ones. This has been designed to be COMPLETELY about mini quests before every dungeon.
CJ's right - it's like a dungeon before a dungeon. I mean, really, it's all just tasks and gameplay challenges, more along the lines of 3D mario games, like "to get a star, collect the 8 red coins". I think it's a mindset.
If you take it that way, you'll have fun. If you look at it from the perspective that gameplay tasks are 'hindering' your progress, then you'll hate it.
I for one love that the Zelda formula is mixed up a bit. Will I like this style forever? Perhaps not, but I like that it's something different. I do like the overworld and exploration (find the dungeon) style of previous Zeldas, but this make your way via tasks to the next is refreshing.
In a way, I see it as a more modern style Zelda. People's attention spans are a lot shorter these days in regards to gaming. Less time to dedicate to epics, less time to sit down for long sessions.... in this fashion, Skyward Sword is very suitable, since the entire game is broken up into constant tasks one after the other, pretty much continuously even BETWEEN dungeons. YOu can play the next challenge for 20-30 minutes, stop, and pick it up later right onto the next challenge. There's no real urgency to "find" the next dungeon in case you forget what you were doing.
So yeah, Phil, you may hate it. It's essentially 'fetch' quests, but how mindless and inessential you think these are is up to your interpretation. I guess the one complaint that I would level at it, is that it does make you do them all. It's like playing Mario 64 and not allowing you to progress unless you did all of the stars or something. That said, the tasks are never difficult.

I heard mik make an offhand comment about the humor in Saints Row not doing it for him. While a lot of it is pretty dumb, and not even funny in a winking "Hey, look how dumb we are!" kinda way, there are some clever aspects to the story missions in the game. Especially with some of the Decker missions towards the end.
I agree. Even the characters in Saints Row comment on how ridiculous certain situations are. It's not funny as in "haha" funny as it is just a fun, crazy game. The last missions, presentation-wise, do more than any GTA mission has ever done. I actually had a grin on my face playing those missions. Maybe Mike is too old.
I kid.
What is funny is every time I hear that Christmas song, I instantly remind myself of the PlayerOne cover. There is no way I'll be able to get it out of my head especially CJ's mistake.
