Sewart: For the PS+ Cloud storage limit you're running into, did you set SSX to auto-upload? That game apparently includes a ghost data save file that's something like 100MB, which was what caused me to run into the 150MB storage limit. Even if you turn off auto-upload for the game (by going into menu of the disc and turning it off), it will still keep showing that error message until you manually delete the SSX ghost data.

CJ: If you're talking about the whole PS3 Backup (through the Backup Utility), that backup actually can only be restored to the PS3 it was created from. So if your PS3 dies, you won't be able to restore it all using that.
Sony - Making no fucking sense since November 17, 2006.
Well shit. What the hell does a "backup" mean then? What the shit is that shit? Stupid.

The game can easily be played while doing something else at the same time. I've listened to many a podcast while very casually chopping down and then re-planting trees, or other such nonsense that doesn't actually require my full attention. TV requirements aside, the idea of just chilling with a friend, setting the difficulty to peaceful, and just messing around in split screen while shooting the breeze sounds like a nice mellow Sunday evening to me.
It's definitely more toy than game, though. I'll concede on that point.

Long story (as to why your article came up), but still weird eh?

I guess it depends on how much you use your PS3 (mine was my primary console and was in heavy use from GT5's release until it died), but I'd be weary and definitely be thinking about getting a new one. Especially if the 5 device activation limit matters to you, or you have game saves that cannot be normally backed up (and you don't have PS+ cloud storage to get around that).

Is there any real way to transfer content from an old system to a new system? Or am I stuck with just re-downloading stuff? [Since it seems that the backup function is system-specific only, that is.]

If I find myself with some extra money in my pocket at any point soon, I have a feeling I'll bite the bullet and switch to a slim model. My fat 80gb model has been a little erratic recently [not booting up sometimes, giving me odd errors] so it sounds like I should be thinking about potential problems on the horizon.
Plus, it produces a ton of heat. Which has always been annoying in an apartment with lackluster cooling options.

Also, you guys missed the entire point. Mik doesn't hate Minecraft, he's just saying he'd RATHER read Mein Kampf. Not really all that uncommon a Nazi pastime.

Meanwhile, I really need to check what saves are copying to the cloud on my PS3. I'm not seeing any indication that my system is dying, but if it should I don't want to get caught losing saves that could've been uploaded.

The HUD was cool and the different ways your uninteresting mute marionette could hold the guns was great, but it didn't do anything for me. Homing bullets and rockets are about the most interesting thing I got before I got tired of the slums and gave up. I heard the coop was great, but I had no one to share it with other than one guy that never had time to play.
I probably went in with the wrong mindset, but I figured that if there was anyone that could get me excited to play a first person shooter again that it would be Starbreeze.

No signs whatsoever. Things were going well. Tony Stark has just begun assembling his suit...in a cave! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS! when the system just shut off and wouldn't turn back on.Phil [or anyone else who has had an 80gig Metal Gear bundle PS3 die on them]--- were there any particular warning signs that the thing was in trouble before it died? I also have one of those 80gig MGS models and sometimes I wonder if it has one foot in the grave or not. I'd rather not lose all my data.
Seriously? I just figured that with their constantly AppleCare pushing, if you were out of warranty, you were screwed.Speaking of stuff dying on Phil, I take it you didn't do this, but it may well have been in your best interest to make an appointment at your Apple store. They're often pretty good about replacing stuff, whether it's under warranty or not.

Quite the opposite actually, they have a lot of discretion to just make things right for people if they feel like it. So best thing to do is go in and be honest about whatever your problem is and see if they'll help you out. AppleCare guarantees you'll get the service, but you're always better off just going and asking for help.
The adapter heat issues are a big issue actually, and they've been swapping them out for people for a while to avoid fires (and lawsuits), so you would have had a good shot at getting that swapped out.
