I love how MS is slowly imploding into itself by unifying everything into a near-future catastrophe. Your consumers don't want you to unify under a brand idea or a UI, they want you to unify functionality and features. Metro on the 360 is god-awful, it looked god-awful on anything that isn't a smartphone or a tablet. If Windows 8 turns out like every single "other" OS release (ie: Vista, ME, etc.) in your history, your plans to unify everything will end up imploding into itself and you're going to suffer so many losses over it.
You know why Metro is awful on the 360? Because it only uses 25% of the screen space, and half of what it shows is ads. Why does the UI only use a tiny rectangle at the center of the screen? So dumb.

God I hope it ends up being the Winbox 8.
I think it would be cool. Seems like it would turn off one of their revenue taps (game licensing), though. But if they want to go all in on owning all your home entertainment, maybe that's what they do. Surface, for example, is definitely a bolder, and possibly better realized product than I might have expected out of Microsoft.
They could really swing for the fences with the next Xbox, but I'm not certain that will happen in a way that appeals to gamers. Certainly I've been wondering if they would beef up first-party development, but I haven't seen much evidence of that to date.

And its successor can be called the Xbox infinity plus one?
Nope, the Xbox Uncountably Infinite.

No love for set theory references?

New patent from Microsoft. I saw it on Yahoo. It says that Microsoft has locked up Xbox 8 name rights. Will people please quit saying Xbox 720 now?

Spoiler
I assume its not the case here but you are actually wrong about patents. There are design patents for the look and feel of something. Its what samsung is getting busted for right now with their iphone clones.
