We have some heavy hitters joining the league this season, so I think it's time we add a third league. I suggest having a top tier league with 6 players, including newcomers like Zephyr and ddally, obvious standout Kdoll, and the top three players in the Pro league. The second tier will consist of 8 players and the third tier league will consist of everyone else.
Momerath and burrito, still up for keeping scores? Please don't feel obligated to continue doing so.

An idea for the major tourneys, how would we feel about playing the 18h on the last day of each major tourney. Would need to let people know ahead of time with a schedule of sorts, but could add some excitement. Also could be overkill and make people not want to do the full 18h.

Oh, and if anyone needs some scores to judge my level by: One third of my dailys end in the top-100 (got my second top-10 yesterday!
And if anyone wants to do a Ryder Cup (Go Europe!) or something else 'till the new season, count me in!

One of the reasons we split from one giant league was to have players compete against similarly skilled opponents. Also, I wanted to give everybody a chance to win something. In this case, their respective league and promotion slots.

Your scores are good enough to be in the elite league based on my analysis, at least. We have long ways till the start of season 5. Keep practicing and gl hf pn bh!

A promotion into the Elite league should maybe be decided by the commisioner or the top scorers in the Elite league. Not really sure if there should be an automatic promotion/demotion every season for Pro to Elite.

As far as promotions/relegations go, I like having three swaps between the Amateur and Pro leagues. I think we'll stick with it. Between the Elite and Pro, I'm thinking two swaps with the only guaranteed swap being between the Pro winner and the 6th ranked Elite player. I'm still trying to decide on whether 2nd place Pro and 5th place Elite should swap straight up, or based on something more.
Keeping track of everyone's score (points, not strokes) throughout the year is out of the question. That would be way too much work, at least at the beginning of the season. Since we are already keeping track of everyone's total strokes, I'm thinking that once the season is over, I'll compare 2nd place Pro and 5th place Elite's total number of strokes and that will be the deciding factor.
Now, since we made the switch to three leagues it was easy to place new players in the elite league without having them move up through the ranks. Going forward, as long as we keep the same format with the same number of players in each league, new players must enter in the Amateur league and move their way up. There will not be any jumps from Amateur to Elite in between seasons. If there is a case where a newcomer is dominating the Amateur league(like kdoll this season), we may increase the number of promotion slots if the newcomer plays for more than half the season.
I'm trying to nail down some other rules, in order to avoid the confusion of last season. Here are some:
-If there is a tie for first place in any tournament, the next official round we play will be used as a tie-breaker.
-In the case of a holiday/pro-longed scheduled maintenance/end of world falling on a day of an official round, the next official round will be used as a make-up round.
-Our first major tournament will be considered the official halfway point of a season. This is really only important for the Amateur league. Newcomers entering after this point will not be given the "extra promotion slot" treatment.
Whew. That's all I have for now. Any suggestions/complaints?
Oh and another thing, other than the Elite league, the rosters I posted previously are not final. Just keep that in mind, in case we get some new, high ranking newcomers before Season Five starts.

Great ideas Juan, but the patch may mean we need to rethink it, I guess we will see. I think one promotion to elite only, it's more elite that way.
Otherwise should be a lot of fun.
I would be happy to represent europe if we do a Ryder cup. Go the Netherlands!
Yeah, we'll see how the patch affects our system.

I really like the idea of playing a heads up match in the case of a tie breaker myself. We could state that the rules and course must match what ever the last day of our tournament setting were. If we have a tie on a weekend match with the new patch a new daily won't be until Tuesday. If we do a player room match we can do the tie breaker on the monday when there is no new daily. Plus this would be more like a true playoff in golf where you would be matched straight up against you opponent instead of the field and we could declare a winner pretty much right away instead of waiting for the next daily results to pop up. Any thoughts from the crowd?
I don't have a vita or. Iwould be playing in these. But you asked for the crowd's opinion so that's me
The only problem I see with match play is scheduling. The two people need to be able to play at the same time, right?

Is the player room match also asynchronous, like the daily tourneys are? The trouble is that if they're real-time, then we have to potentially wrangle players into coordinating schedules with other players, when they may not even really check these forums that often in the first place. I just worry that it may take a long time for some of those tiebreakers to get resolved. It's been pretty hard to get people to deviate from our traditional schedule with the asynchronous tourneys as it is, which I believe is why Juanster established the "next official round doubles as a tiebreaker for previous" as a new rule for the season.

I could see where a heads up match is the first option but if scheduling is a problem then you move to the second tiebreaker which is the first round of the next daily. Btw... I'm not popping into this thread for the first time. I followed the entire season 4, checking the scores like this was espn
Who do you root for?
We are going to stay completely asynchronous for the reasons Momerath pointed out. It's always a huge mess when we try to change the schedule from the established routine.

I guess we now know why we are finally getting the patch. In Japan they released dlc for the game today. It looked like 2 new characters and 2 new courses to me but I'm not sure since I could not read it all the way. So as soon as there was money to be made all of a sudden they became ready to give us the update. Typical
Yeah, I'd definitely be willing to bet you're not far off with that guess.
