Wow, a discussion of Ouya that did not use the words "scam" or "hardcore gamer!" Well done. I think you're spot-on, even if this doesn't get many custom paid games, it will be a neat little hack box. Best case--- it's the Android/TV equivalent of the iCade, sporadically supported but not standard, yet still plenty of fun.

Always good to take Penny Arcade to task as well. They are the Electronic Arts of web comics, and they're big enough to take criticism for begging.

I've thought about it more, and as far as Madden and NCAA teaching players about football any little bit they could add would be helpful. Something as simple as an optional tooltip for the formation and play selections telling you when they are useful would be a ton of help and wouldn't require a dramatic amount of work. Or hell, add a text tutorial to the menu and let me read through it at my leisure. I also really like CJ's suggestion of a mode that puts you into specific situations to illustrate specific strategies, that's something that works great in other genres.

None of this will ever be implemented as long EA sticks to their yearly release schedule though. It's such a shame that the sports genre is such a locked down niche.

I enjoyed the brief love affair the podcast had with the word "blost..." I would frequently add one myself while listening to CJ do a "co-host with the most" intro, only to be disappointed that it never made a comeback.

Speaking of Kickstarter and Bill Watterson

That's impressive, because the last story I read about Bill Watterson talked about how he was a recluse and impossible to find (indeed, part of the story was about the reporter's effort to stake out Watterson's town, trying to find him that way).

Ninostarter is exactly what penny arcade should have done. Check out the thread on the boards.

I thought there was a madden explains the play feature? Am I wrong in that?

I agree on Fifa, but I tend to adjust my style of play to what the compute r will let me do, no matter what the sport. Though just dunking every play used to get really old in the genesis NBA Live series.

The problem with teaching you the game and also teaching you the sport, is that the game will never be a perfect emulation. There's also no incentive as the games are already the biggest sellers on the market.

At making my ears bleed. I seriously was about to just skip forward on the podcast when CJ finally made Greg go fix it.

Other than that, good show.

Different strokes I guess. I always get amused by those voices when they happen spontaneously.
