Earthbound anyone?

I'm sure most of you know about a little SNES RPG called Earthbound, or at least the character Ness, who apears in SSB and SSBM.
So, thoughts on this amazing game?

The day this is released on Virtual Console, any fan of the genre who owns a Wii owe it to themselves to play this wonderful game.

I don't really have the cash to go out and buy it right now for the SNES, and I'd be afraid of getting a dead battery along with the game.
Definately one of my favorite "gems" on the SNES, along with Lufia 2.
Though, my favorite game is still Final Fantasy VI

I've only got to play a little bit of it, but those few hours of RPG greatness will be remembered. I was surprised at how funny the game was. I got all the way up to when Jeff joins your group. I'd go far as to say this game is as good as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III. I cant wait till this comes out for VC.

I would say that these three games (Earthbound, Chrono Trigger and FF3/FF6) are arguably the greatest RPGs of all time.

Those things smelled TERRIBLE.
My brother's friend would come over and want to play SNES. I would make him scratch and sniff all the Earthbound things before he got to play. I was truly an evil child.

I remember when they had dozens of copies at Best Buy clearanced at $4.99. I dunno why I didn't buy up a ton of them, but c'est la vie. I should've at least bought an extra one. Too bad the game didn't do well -- though I think that's because Americans just weren't down with its graphics.
I'd really like to see this one show up on the VC, because I think it'd do pretty well. And if it did do well, maybe Nintendo would give us Mother 1 and 3 via VC as well (if not regular release on DS or some such).

But, I guess collecting them is half the fun, I know I will definately in the future go back to some of them and play them through. I always regretted not investing in a nice RPG collection on the SNES (other than Marios and Donkey Kongs, and maybe Mortal Kombat, the only worthwhile SNES games to get).

Earthbound is one of my favorite games. Everything about it just suits my tastes so well. This game has so much personality and heart and it is all delivered in a way so that it never comes off as being forced. If anyone has beaten the game and has some time I definately recommend reading this article. It's long but it must be read, it is just that good.
BONUS - http://www.wushuplay.../boundtogether/ - If you like the music then I highly recommend checking this link out. It's a great remix project.

This thread makes me sad. I have the SNES cart sitting on my shelf, but it won't work. And the worst part is, I've had it for years but never got around to playing it. Then, the day I'm finally in the mood...dead. Same with my copy of LttP. And it's not a problem with my system, because Secret Of Mana works perfectly.
i don't really aprove of ROMs and emulators, but in this case, i'd say you should find it.
