Episode 149 (8/31/09) – Diabolical Boxes

This week! Voicemails, tweets and whatcha been playingses. In the first segment we cover a lot of ground, from favorite platformers and Sony’s new ad campaign to utter disappointment at Best Buy’s The Beatles Rock Band demo day. Games discussed during this 149th show include Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 2, Batman Arkham Asylum, Uncharter, Shadow Complex, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Warriors Orochi 2 (PSP), Madden 10 and Peggle.

Beware potential spoilers for the first hour or so of Batman Arkham Asylum from 1:03:25-1:13:00.

And that, friends, is this week’s episode. Note, although this episode is called Diabolical Boxes, we barely talk about the sequel to ProfessorLayton that came out last week.

You guys are dicks bashing shadow complex for being anti gay
yet still buying the game. Oh and morman hate black people too. Fuck morman people.

Not shocked this is a 360 release. With all the gay and black haters on live.

Blacks and gays buy a slim and get on the free psn.

Except, we didn’t bash Shadow Complex for being anti-gay (and I think most of us bought it because it was a good game, not because of any of the people behind it). Intolerance is hardly limited to a particular religion or online gaming service, nor do I think it fair to lump everyone of that religion or membership to that online service into one basket.

You should study some of the writings of the morman religion. The “cursed” black race has been covered many times in their writings.

One of you were going off last week calling the guy a d-bag numerous times, yet you forget that their teachings co-inside with their bullshit views. Though I sure a lot of the anti-gay, and anti-black gamers on live loved supporting this game its’ developers.

Also, xbox live is the pit of the online gaming community. It got so bad I had to cancel my sub. Because Men would not stop harassing me on the service.

When I picked up my PS3 and went on PSN, I use my bluetooth mic all the time, and I never have men attacking me calling me a N*gger, F*g, or other degrading words. Simply put the gamers on PSN are more grown up. Maybe it’s due to the higher price point. But, whatever the case my enjoyment has been much better on PSN.

Even that way that guy Wombat was treated on featured gamer on the dash show how bad things have gotten. And, along comes the MS pr guy running damage control. Which is nothing more than a bunch of spin, and was funny their reaction to it after the interview. God help him if he was a woman. Or, gay. Or, a minority.

All I would say to that is remember when PlayStation Home first went public beta, and there was such a rash of people being harassed/etc. that they had to turn off voice communications for everyone but friends? PSN is hardly immune to the stupidity of people, and IMO the only reason you don’t see it that often in games is that the 360 comes with a headset and it’s stupidly easy to hook it into the controller and start spouting whatever you want and with the PS3 you have to somewhat know what you’re doing. Somewhat.

And anytime I’m on Live and hear that kind of stuff I report the user. I’ve done it plenty of times. Maybe if more people would do that, Live would have a better shot at being a better community. I’m sure when Halo ODST comes out I’ll do plenty of reporting. 🙂

I did report them I never saw any of them being banned. I do think Live is worst, and MS should lay down bans more often. Maybe putting these types of people in their own chess pool of hate.

Having been on Home, I think all the people that just treated it as a joke left. Leaving it to the people that like it to stay around. I went on last week and it was a pretty cool place. Maybe not to everyones taste. I was not abused by anyone just played a few games of pool and danced lol.

I think you guys are great and I agree with you mostly. But, I expected you guys not to buy this game. Maybe it was too much for me to think such a thing would happen.

Though Ford seems to be the only one out of you guys to avoid this game. Have to say he always seemed like the type to stick up for the small guy. Not saying you all don’t. But, he is more of a deep thinker? When it comes to games.

Keep doing what you guys do with the podcast. Even if I don’t agree with some things I enjoy the show.

Where do I go in the menu to find the batman videos? I can not find them.

Also If Empire is an IP owned by chair and licensed to Card, then he would get diddly Scott from shadow complex Phil.
